Greetings from Hiram Clarke Civic Club President Keith Taylor

Wow, I know that it has been more than a year and a half since we have seen each other. The COVID-19 virus has drastically changed life as we knew it and has claimed the lives of more than 640,000 Americans and counting. This virus has been caught by a staggering 39.1 million of our fellow Americans. That’s why we must continue to be vigilant as we go about our daily lives. Please get vaccinated and mask up until this pandemic is in our rearview mirror.

I am looking forward to seeing you in person for National Night Out on Tuesday, October 5th at 6:30 p.m., in the parking lot of Brentwood Baptist Church. Although we are not meeting in person, rest assured that the Civic Club Leadership Team is still on the job enforcing deed restrictions, writing letters to neighbors, participating in meetings, maintaining the entrances to our neighborhood, and generally handling important Civic Club business.

I want to personally thank all of you who have paid your $50 annual dues. Without your financial support, we would not be able to operate to protect the quality of our community. For those of you who have not paid your dues, please do so at the earliest opportunity. You may drop off your check-in person at the next National Night Out that was mentioned earlier.

I encourage you all to visit our website at www.hiramclarkecivicclub.com. You will find the latest news on what’s going on in our community. Again everyone, please stay safe. I look forward to seeing you all soon.

Sincerely,

 Keith Taylor,  President

Hiram Clarke Civic Club Welcomes Good Times Store to Our Community

The Grand Opening of a new business in our community was held on May 30, 2021. A new convenience store named “Good Times” is now in operation and located at 13602 Hiram Clarke. Hiram Clarke Civic Club President Keith Taylor said,” We are so pleased to have this outstanding new business in our community. I congratulate the owner, Mr. Ahmed Ali, on refurbishing and modernizing the store. It is a great place to eat, buy goods, or simply entertain yourself at the gaming consoles.”

The store is well-stocked with items ranging from everything from snacks and cold drinks to bread, milk, and other items you may need at the spur of the moment. Many quality items are available at the store at reasonable prices and the food is delicious. Items on the menu include burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, wings, and authentic Mexican food. “Truly residents in our community will have a good time at Good Times. Pun intended., “ said Taylor with a big smile.

The store represents economic development in our community and Mr. Ali has hired several new employees to operate his store and provide outstanding customer service. Mr. Ali, an immigrant from Pakistan, said, ”I am very happy to open this store and be a part of this neighborhood. It is something I have been working on for a long time. It was a lot of work to remodel the store and get the operating permits, but I am happy to see it completed and appreciate the very good support that we have been getting from our customers.”

“Good Times represents the values and diversity of our community. I highly encourage residents of our community to support this store and check out the food. I can testify first-hand that it is really good. I was impressed, and my family and I will certainly be back again,” said Taylor.

Neighbors Making a Difference!!!

Adopt a Drain Program

Mayor Sylvester Turner is asking residents citywide to adopt a street drain! By removing trash/debris away from the drains before excessive rains fall most families would experience a minimum amount of flooding/emotional pain!!

A Special Thanks goes out to F. Nichols, T. Hamilton and O. Carroll for maintaining the drains on Knotty Oaks and Ebbtide Streets at Whiteheather Drive in Brentwood, Section 3. Their volunteer effort is a true example of community PRIDE!!!!!
